Bangkok is one of the world's most vibrant cities. It's loud, noisy, modern and fast, and while it's quiet, slow and outdated. It is a fusion city, a city where tradition and modernity not only meet, but mix and create something new.
It is a fascinating place. Many people who make a stopover in Bangkok for a couple of days before heading to the beautiful beaches of Thailand has to offer I do not like at all. All they see are decadent red zones, traffic jams and annoying intrusive tuktuk drivers.
But that's really only the outermost layer of Bangkok - that is what is easier to find for a tourist who comes here. If the skin the first layer of distance are the faces of many of Bangkok: the gentle, kind, cultural, culinary, religious, and more.
The temples of Bangkok
There are so many temples in Bangkok, if you have an interest in Buddhism or religious architecture, you will love it here. What was once covered in plaster, probably to hide it from the invading armies if known to melt the gold statues of Buddha. A monk accidentally discovered that under the cast, had a golden Buddha, when a piece of plaster chips.

Shoppers love Bangkok. It is a paradise for shoppers. Do you have money to spend? Palacios modern shopping malls like Siam Paragon and Central World offers ample opportunity to buy almost all the material things that one can wish for. Almost all luxury brand in the world has a Waving in Siam Paragon, and if you want to purchase a new Lamborghini, just head upstairs.
If you want cheap clothes and fashion accessories, you might want to see Pratunam, Platinum Mall especially. But Pahurat also has much to offer, such as Boba.
And then there's the weekend market Chatuchak, also known as JJ or Jatujak market. It is the largest market for weekend and has a very diverse mix of merchandise offered. If you like the markets, this is the one to the exit.
There is much more to do in Bangkok. But it can be overwhelming.

I was able to save more than $ 200 in my recent trip to Kuala Lumpur from the Philippines. Instead of boarding for a week in a cheap hotel, I discovered the week before saying goodbye to an old friend had migrated and taken expatriate status in the Bangsar area of ââKuala Lumpur, one of the most desirable neighborhoods of the capital of Malaysia. We were not close to coming out of our ways of seeing one another outside work but were close enough to share a few rounds of alcohol.

In the Philippines, I flew to Singapore for a conference and took the bus to Kuala Lumpur, about five hours by car along the road connection from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. Part of my "gift back home" for her included me restocking her pantry with cereals, cheese, bread and a bottle of house wine. But there was still something missing. Looking around I knew the condo furnished missing that special touch. And then I realized when looking at the counter near the television. I ran to the grocery store and took a new batch of a variety of flowers. Back in the condominium, he emptied the glass of water old and withered flowers and replaced them. As a new place now had a special touch.
Days later, I left a message on the computer saying he was grateful for the gesture pantry - and especially glad about the flower arrangement in the living room. It's a great feeling to know that you can make someone happy, even that far. Since moving, this was the first time in the glass replaced.
